Yesh Din said following the comment by Defense Minister Amir Peretz, that the soldier who was present at the incident in Hebron did not have the authority to intervene, that "the defense minister's ignorance is dangerous."

In a letter they sent to Peretz and to the ministerial committee established to enforce the law in Hebron, they wrote "the fact the defense minister is not aware that IDF soldiers already have full authority to detain Israelis who harm Palestinians and their property is unfortunate."
